Tomorrow, golfers will hit the links in Saucier to benefit the families and children of fallen and disabled service members. Crews at Grand Bear Golf Club are putting the finishing touches on the course for a cause near and dear to many. Ian Kahn with Grand Bear Golf Club said, “It really does make you feel good that you're doing something good for a very worthy cause. It's great for us here at the Grand Bear." For the second year, the club is hosting a golf tournament to benefit Folds of Honor, an organization that helps the families and children of fallen and wounded servicemembers through scholarships. "It's just a fun scramble. We don't want people to come out here and grind, it's a day to support the organization and just have a great time." With 24 teams participating and sponsors like Keesler Federal Credit Union and Mercedes Benz providing support, the goal is to raise more than $10,000 given to Folds of Honor last year. Despite suffering some damage from Hurricane Zeta a few weeks ago, the crew at Grand Bear says they’re ready to roll for this tournament. "We got a little bit nervous, but the whole team came together to make sure that this event is going to be successful. The course is going to be a great experience for all our players." As golfers prepare to try their luck in a hole in one competition and enjoy barbecue, Grand Bear hopes to expand the tournament in the years ahead to benefit more families. "This is something we're steadfastly behind, until the end of time." « Less
