the new mexico state fair starts in two days.. and state police are laying out their plan to deal with rowdy fair- goers and trouble-makers. kayla anderson minute thumbnail 05:04 pm is live at expo new mexico with what police say they're doing differently this year. kayla? you can expect to see more cops -- some in uniform and others in plain clothes when you come out to this year's fair... but that's not all police have planned to cut down on crime. it's that time of year again-- rides fried food and plenty of opportunity for criminals. at last year's state fair-- domestic violence and burglaries were both up. arrests were also up 33 percent. police say the increase in arrests was a result of more officers. this year, they're planning to have more cops out as well: as many as 90 officers will be out patrolling the fairgrounds. k-9 units will also be available. and police will minute thumbnail 05:05 pm have a mobile booking station for arrests. the biggest things police are looking for- drugs and gangs. you'll also notice something that hasn't been at recent fairs-- raised platforms-- to give police a bird's eye view of the action. there's only so much police can do though. they want to remind you to lock your car doors- put things under the seats if you need to-- and don't leave anything in plain view. reporting live from expo new mexico, kayla anderson, eyewitness news 4.  « Less
