Help Wanted! That's the cry coming out of Minot this weekend... as the annual EMS convention got underway. Six-hundred emergency medical workers swarmed into the State Fair Center to brush up on techniques and proceedures But much of the discussion revolved around recruiting more volunteers for rural squads. The problem, says the organization's presdient Mark Weber is that it's a hard job with little or no compensation... . Mark Weber/ Pres. ND EMS Assoc.-There's a lot of talk about lowering the standards... lowering the miniumu requirements for providers in the back of an ambulance, and I think there's a better way to do it besides lowering the standard of care out in the rural areas. I think the state, the county and the cities are going to have to step up a little bit and if they want an ambulance service in their community, they're going to have to pay for it.
