It will be another cold start to the day, but not as bad as Wednesday, as temperatures stay above the 0° mark this morning. Temps will near 20° today, but the big story is the approaching winter storm. Snow moves in later this evening, after sunset for northern Iowa, and around 9 p.m. for southern Minnesota, lasting into Friday. The most intense snowfall rates will happen Thursday night leaving 3-6" of new snow on the ground by sunrise Friday. Light snow continues through the rest of the day adding an additional 1-2" leaving storm totals around 4 to 8" locally. Highest amounts will fall in north Iowa, the lighter end of the range occurring in southern Minnesota. The high end totals (12-18") will stay well to our southwest in Nebraska and Kansas. « Less
