New Jersey Governor Chris Christie isn't waiting any longer on FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). On Thursday, Christie announced new regulations for rebuilding homes and businesses after Superstorm Sandy. The governor chose none other than the iconic Sea Side Heights, one of the most hard hit towns, to host his announcement of signing emergency regulations to adopt FEMA's updated Advisory Base Flood Elevation (ABFEs) maps, which were released last month, as the rebuilding standard for New Jersey. At Sea Side Heights Fire Department, Christie told members of the press and the Jersey shore town residents that it's an effort to speed up the rebuilding process. "By using these measures we have the potential to save New Jersey, the residents, and tax payers billions of dollars in property damage, economic loss, response and mitigation loss, and reducing any further loss of life in the future," said Christie. « Less
