Feb. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Former U.S. Senator Alfonse D'Amato, a New York Republican, remembers former New York City Mayor Ed Koch, who died today. Koch, the outspoken three-term mayor who led the biggest U.S. city from the brink of bankruptcy in the late 1970s, died at 2 a.m. of heart failure at New York-Presbyterian Columbia Hospital, spokesman George Arzt said.
