WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)-- Teams from all over the country and all over the globe traveled to Ogden this weekend to compete in the Cape Fear 7’s Rugby Tournament. This is one of the largest summer 7's tournaments in the United States. Sevens meaning 7 members competing on the field per team while regular rugby is played with 15 members. The annual tournament was held at Ogden Park where tents and lots of interesting team uniforms could be seen. We asked competitor Joshua Bond why he loved the sport so much? “It’s an all-around sport, you can do anything, you can kick the ball, catch the ball, throw the ball as far as you want, just an all-around sport. and you don't have pads like football so it's a little tougher,” Joshua said. Another competitor explained that although it was a very physical sport, there's community with all the wonderful people that compete in the rugby events. This 2 day tournament had 2 divisions, club and social, both for men and women. Competitors also noted that they were thankful for the beautiful weather and glad Hurricane Arthur did not come a few days later.  « Less
