Minnesota Hockey legend John Mayasich holds 10 state high school scoring records. Some say most of those records will never be broken. KSTP Reporter Tom Hauser and Chief Photographer Joe Caffrey traveled to Eveleth to visit Mayasich on the eve of the Boys' State High School Hockey Tournament. Mayasich led his Eveleth Golden Bears to four straight undefeated state hockey championships from 1948 to 1951. The story reveals the competitive spirit Mayasich still holds today, while competing in senior curling competition. Mayasich also reveals why his parents were never able to attend his youth, high school, college or Olympic hockey games. It's vintage John Mayasich, possibly the best hockey player in Minnesota history. « Less
