About 700 people celebrated the grand opening of Newtown Athletic Club's Sports Training Center. The $2.7 million building will house training facilities for cheer leading softball, and baseball. Director of the NAC Sports Training Center, Josh Tyler, said this was just a dream to him five years ago. "I had a vision of what I wanted," said Tyler. "I didn't want a huge enormous place that people could get lost in. I wanted something for the community that was safe and clean that could host a variety of events." The center is the second phase of NAC's Big Build development project. The third and final phase, which includes an outdoor pool resort will be completed by Memorial Day 2013.
