The Grand Traverse Bay YMCA's after school program has a bit of additional funding, thanks to a recent donation from a major retailer. JCPenney donated almost $4,000 to the YMCA though the JCPenney Afterschool Fund. The funds were raised through a "Day of Giving Back" as well as a "Round-Up" event at the JCPenney at the Grand Traverse Mall; Tom Van Deinse, CEO of the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA, said that the support of the Afterschool Fund and JCPenney really helps the YMCA to offer high-quality after school programming. In other news, a 1950s musical is coming to West Shore Community College. "Forever Plaid" solutes the great four-part harmony groups of the mid-20th century; the musical follows the story of The Plaids, a '50s singing group who return from the Great Beyond to perform the show they never got to when they were alive.
