Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm joined in a huge community celebration on April 20. During the event, Mariah Power of Reno, Nevada, and MasTech Manufacturing of Manistee, celebrated the opening of MasTech’s Windspire Manufacturing Facility…. a facility that will create dozens of new jobs in renewable energy, even during these hard economic times. Hundreds of community members attended the celebration, which included speeches by the Governor as well as the CEO of Mariah Power and the General Manager of MasTech Manufacturing. The speeches were followed by the unveiling of the first Windspire, as well as tours of MasTech’s manufacturing facilities. “As we continue our efforts to diversify and grow our state’s economy, we are proud to celebrate the opening of the Windspire manufacturing facility and the new energy jobs this will create in northern Michigan,” said Governor Granholm. “This investment puts us at the forefront in the production of renewable energy to end U.S. dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuels.” MasTech’s Manistee manufacturing operation begins with 30 new employees, though more jobs could become available as more Windspires are manufactured monthly.  « Less
