Native Americans have been a part of of Northern Michigan since long before the state even existed... but some visitors to the area are surprised to learn that while Native American tribes have been a part of the community in the past, they still play a very active role in the present. The Traverse City Convention and Visitor's Bureau is working to inform people about the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians with a new exhibit. "The Grand Traverse Band, Today," is on display at the Traverse City Visitor Center. It showcases the tribe's accomplishments, and their involvement in the area today. The exhibit will remain on display until May 31. « Less
