A local building has been nominated as the "Michigan Barn of the Year," after its owners put some hard work into its preservation. The Ludington and Scottville Chamber of Commerce nominated the barn at Cherry Hill Farm for the award last month. Roger and Marcia Hansen, the owners of the barn, have spent the past year restoring the building; they've been promoting the preservation of Mason County's agricultural heritage by encouraging other barn owners to restore their own buildings. The Hansens were recognized for their preservation efforts last December, when they were awarded the Henry and Elizabeth Haskell Award for Historic Preservation; the Chamber of Commerce said that they're proud to be nominating the family for the Barn of the Year award as well.  « Less
