A late-night basketball tournament will soon be held in Traverse City, as part of a program hosted by the local YMCA. The Grand Traverse Bay YMCA will host their 2009 "Midnight Madness 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament" on Friday, March 13. As the name suggests, the tournament will begin at 5pm and run until midnight; the event is open to 5th through 9th grade girls and boys basketball teams. According to Barb Beckett, director of sports and tournament manager of the YMCA, the event gives students a chance to enjoy some extra time playing basketball with a "fun and unique" tournament.
