An upcoming event in Interlochen will raise funds to benefit a local student. Madelynn Shepard is a second grade student at the Traverse City Area Public schools. Shepard suffers from Neurofibromatosis, a nervous tissue tumor; her family has to travel downstate several times a month so that Madelynn can receive treatments. A benefit event will be held on Saturday, March 7 at the Interlochen Community School Cafeteria to support Madelyn's medical treatments. The pancake breakfast and bake sale will run from 9am until 11am at the Interlochen Community School Cafeteria; the cost to attend is $5 for adults, $3 for students or $15 for a family of four.
