A recent Chili cookoff is being called a winner, after numerous eateries participated in a very successful event. The 15th annual Downtown Chili Challenge was held earlier this month at the Park Place Dome in downtown Traverse City. 18 local restaurants entered a total of 25 different chilies in the event. Eight different categories were offered, as was a "People's Choice" award; about 1500 people attended the cook-off. All proceeds from this year's Downtown Chili Challenge will be used to help support community activities in Traverse City; those events include Friday Night Live, the Halloween walk, numerous holiday activities and other events held downtown throughout the year.  « Less
