The Minot State women's basketball team is getting ready for a big weekend with their first full weekend of conference play. The Lady Beavers host South Dakota Mines on Friday followed by a matchup with 10th ranked Black Hills State on Saturday. Both teams are 2-0 in the conference while the Beavers are 0-1 and both teams feature different styles of play. Sheila Green-Gerding, MSU women's basketball coach:I think South Dakota Mines has great post players, young kids but you know Holyoke is really a crafty player and they're hard to stay with and then they got Inman who's really a good, solid strong player. Black Hills has got super perimeter players. They put tremendous pressure on people off the ball, on the ball. They also do a great job of covering down in the post which it'll make it difficult. Our posts have got to try and score right away or kick it back out, so two different kinds of styles a little bit. MacKenzie Mack, junior:With good teams you play up to their level and then when you see other teams like you really play at their level so we were a little worried that we blew out this last team that we're not gonna be prepared so we have to in practice become mentally prepared for everything. Caroline Folven, sophomore:We're gonna really have to bring our game. We're gonna have to bring intensity. We're gonna have to cut down on the turnovers but I think how we've been practicing will reflect that and I think we've really turned it up in practice and I think we're gonna be ready.  « Less
