Winter weather over the past few weeks led to the cancellation of numerous blood drives. The American Red Cross estimates that the cancellations led to a loss of over 1,000 blood donations. According the the Red Cross, the loss of those donations can tip the balance of the blood supply during the winter season; they said that blood supplies tend to be low to begin with because the number of donations declines over winter. With blood supplies running low, the Red Cross is encouraging donors to roll up their sleeves and attend a blood drive near them; for a list of upcoming blood drives you can log on to RedCrossMichigan.org.  « Less
