Mary Senger - andamp;quot;ok the first thing we've got in the winter survival kit is the cell phone and its not just enough to just have the phone...but to make sure its charged and when you are out there traveling in the rural areas you have to pay attention to the landmarks...so pay attention to the exit signs, the mile markers the cities so you can better prepare the responders for where you areandamp;quot; andamp;quot;ok so for the winter survival kit, we always recommend the flashlights it doesn't matter whether it is the battery operated or the crank operated...if you have the battery operated make sure you have spare batteries in there.andamp;quot; andamp;quot;different things for different families if you have kids the drinking cups for the kids, and games for the kids....whatever is going to keep them busy for a little period of time you want to try and make yourself self sustaining for a period of time and that is the goal of the kit.andamp;quot; andamp;quot;i've packed granola bars...fruit snacks...dehydrated fruit...some nuts...i have soup in here, the other thing we have is a rope in case you need to leave your vehicle for whatever reason, tie it off to your vehicle cause sometimes it so blinding outside you might not be able to find your way back to the vehicle.andamp;quot; andamp;quot;if you are going on a long trip, pack the extra clothing and things like that in case you do get stuck.
