Governor Jim Doyle announced the results of a new report, which shows Wisconsin could be five-point-four billion dollars in the red by 2011. Part of the problem is a decrease in the estimated amount of tax dollars. The report suggests tax collections will drop more than two percent this year, and nearly four percent next year. The State Legislature will meet early next year to begin dealing with the problem. Today, the Governor announced some short-term plans to help cut spending.
