Senator Kerry said: i am interested in rescuing the financial system of the country. the point i am trying to make to people as i do not view this as a bailout of wall street. i view this as an effort to provide liquidity and confidence to the whole system. what we have to recognize is that the provisions we put into this that create accountability and transparency, that have limitations on executive compensation, they give the american taxpayer a stake in companies, and they get some of the upside on the back end of this. all of those provisions and an effort to direct the treasury secretary to deal with part foreclosures and the mortgage situation, i think these are measures that can help restore confidence and improve liquidity. i think we have to do this and do it quickly.  « Less
