There was a bit of a homecoming today for one visitor to the Norsk Hostfest... What made this homecoming a bit odd was that the home he was coming back to had been moved from Norway to Minot! Guttorm Tovsrud is visiting Minot for the first time and seeing the home that he spent many years in as he grew up in Norway. The Sigdal House, as it is known, was moved from Norway to Minot's Scandinavian Heritage Park years ago. For Guttorm, seeing it brought back many memories... (Guttorm Tovsrud - Sigdal, Norway) I grew up at a neighbor farm where this house was standing. Two old guys lived there and one was a good wood carver and I spent lots of time there learning wood carving. I have good memories of the cabin so it is good to come back and see it. It is estimated that the home was built in 1771! Guttorm said the small home held quite the family often having 12 or 15 people living under its small roof.  « Less
