For some of us walking with a plate of lutefisk is challenging enough...but one group of performers here at the Hostfest can do that and then some! But as Debbie Kuehn reports, if you want to see the Peking Acrobats, you'd better find a seat early, because once they take the stage, there tends to be standing room only... Talk about a group of performers willing to bend over backwards for their audience! When these 12 Chinese acrobats leap on to the stage at the Norsk Hostfest, people can't help but stop what they're doing and stare! Whether it's their ability to twist and bend like human pretzels, their mastery of balance or their incredible coordination, the Peking Acrobats are taking the Hostfest to new heights. They say it takes years of practice and dedication to pull off stunts like these without safety nets or harnesses. (George Wang, Translator) Oh, they start almost 5, 6, 7 years old. And then the learning, the teaching...the coach teaches them. This girl here do the high chair, since 11 years old been performer. But the athletes are more than willing to give it their all. They practice at least one hour every day to stay in tip top shape. (George) The balance is very important...no make mistake... EVER! She don't need no safety line or any protectant. She's just careful and for sure of the balance before the show. Chinese acrobats at a Norwegian festival...no matter how you look at it, it's worth the price of admission to the Hostfest.
