Mark Fox of New Town says if you're going to do something you may as well take the plunge and do it right. That's why when he decided to help out kids on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, he put on a wet suit first! Debbie Kuehn and photojournalist Perry Moll have his story... It isn't that Mark Fox minds being told to go jump in a lake, he just likes to have a good reason for doing so. What exactly qualifies as a good reason? How about kids? Mark Fox/ New Town- What's at stake is helping kids... helping our community, doing something positive... The idea surfaced when Mark was kicking around ways to pool some funds for youth programs... programs like... Mark-We help out the cross country team... go to nationals things like that.... also got a capitol fund going to build a recreation building in Parshall to do boxing and other things of that nature. And in additon to that, we're looking at building a really nice skating rink with a warming house and lights and the whole bit in Parshall. So instead of floating a loan... Mark decided to dive into fund raising... head first! Mark- We're going to have a heck of a contribution coming. I think somewhere between four, five thousand dollars... raise about five thousand dollars for kids. Mark-Five lengths... one, two, three, four, five... and then around the bend there, I took off those dive booties cause the legs were starting to cramp up! (Gonna try it again next year?) Absolutely... as long as this old body will keep doing it, we'll keep trying! We'll try for six or seven next year! And that's one way to start a cash flow!
