After years of talking about the continued decline in lake levels on Sakakawea the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reporting some very bright numbers this summer. The Corp. says the Garrison Reservoir, or Lake Sakakawea, is currently 10.9 feet higher than it was last year at this time, and is expected to remain essentially level this month. Other Reservoirs are also showing significant increases in their levels with Oahe up nearly 12.4 four feet and Fort Peck up 8.4 feet from this time last year. The Army Corps is attributing the increase in levels to the change in management of the Missouri River system. The Corps of Engineers has meetings planned next month to discuss plans for next year's management plan. A meeting is set for 7 p.m. October 16th in Bismarck at the Radisson. « Less
