Last night Barack Obama wrapped up the Democratic National Convention with his speech in Denver...now it is the Republican's turn. John McCain named Alaska Governor Sarah Palin his vice-presidential running mate this morning. They will join thousands of GOPers in St. Paul for the convention next week. Duane Sand will make that trip to the Cities. He is trying to unseat Democratic Representative Earl Pomeroy in the House once again this year. Sand will give the roll-call vote for the North Dakota delegation on the floor and meet up with fellow war veterans he has grown close to. (Duane Sand - (R) Candidate for Congress) I've been to them before and they are just a lot of fun. There are lots of great people to meet and ideas to exchange. There will be a large veterans meeting there which I am looking forward to. There are lots of vets running for Congress this year around the country and we have stayed in touch since the war so I am really looking forward to seeing them. Sand is an Iraq War veteran and was in Minot yesterday shooting a campaign commercial. The Republicans are slated to start their convention on Monday. However, there has been discussion about pushing that back a few days depending on what the tropical storm in the Gulf does this weekend.  « Less
