Following a disappointing season last year, this year's Bottineau Football team is looking to turn things around. 13 seniors are out for this year's team under new head coach Rob Bedlion who also return 7 players on both sides of the ball. The senior leadership and experience could have the Braves as one of the surprise teams in the AA's east region. Rob Bedlion, Bottineau football coach:We don't have a lot of size, but we're a quick team and we're running a different offense and defense this year. It's more of a spread offense and in the past we've been more of a power I team. It'll be a change up for us but we fit it quite well. Jake Thurston, senior:I think we were overconfident last year with our bigger line. This year we're a lot harder workers and we're gonna try and do a lot different things that we've never done before. A lot of things no one's gonna expect out of us. Luke Artz, senior:Feel like strong hitters. We're quick and we got plenty of defensive strategies so it should work out that way too. The Braves kick off their season on Friday when they travel to Belcourt.  « Less
