When you think of a pilot, you probably picture someone up in the sky, flying an aircraft. But one hobby keeps pilots grounded while still allowing them to perform the same aerial maneuvers. The Minot Aircraft Modelers build smaller, remote-controlled versions of typical aircraft. Tomorrow, the group will be hosting its 28th annual International Fun Fly event. Around 50 pilots from around the region and Canada will showcase their models and perform a variety of maneuvers. Russ Gohl has been flying the planes for over half a century and says this event is entertaining for anyone, but it's also about fellowship. .. (Russ Gohl, Event Organizer) If you like airplanes, you get to see a lot of neat things. We're always looking to add to our membership in getting kids and younger folks involved. So, it's a really good hobby, the people here, it's good companionship and it's just good friends. FULL CG The International Fun Fly begins tomorrow and wraps up on Sunday. It's free and anyone can attend. Full facilities and food will be provided and it takes place at the Minot Aircraft Modelers Field, located on 100th Avenue northeast, or about 12 miles northeast of Minot.
