There's still a major slowdown for traffic, but workers on the North Broadway project say they've hit an important milestone. The final piece of sanitary sewer line has been placed underground along street, and crews are getting close to finishing the paving work on the west lanes. That would mean that traffic would be moved to the new pavement while work switches over to the east lanes. A spokesman for Strata Corporation, the prime contractor on the five-million dollar rebuilding project, says dry weather has allowed the project to stay ahead of schedule. We got done with the major trunk line of the sanitary sewer that serves the majority of North Broadway and North Hill so it was a real milestone and it's allowing all the storm sewer to proceed behind it which is going to allow us to get our final pave in on the west side next Tuesday, which would complete all the concrete on the west side. Petrick says some traffic near the viaduct could actually be moved to the newly-paved west lanes as early as tomorrow, allowing workers to get further ahead of schedule.
