There is help coming down the pipeline from the government for Monday's Tornado victims. Governor John Hoeven announced today that the federal government is helping secure temporary single-bedroom apartments for victims in Rolette County. Hoeven says the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development agency is providing money to pay the cost of rent for those that are eligible. The agency plans to have staff at the Turtle Mountain Tribal Highway Garage in Belcourt and Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rolla to coordinate housing assistance starting Thursday morning. Hoeven says he also has sent a state Department of Emergency Services liaison to Rolette County to help coordinate local, state, tribal and federal resources. The state Human Services Department also will be providing counseling and other disaster mental health services to county residents. Hoeven says officials in Belcourt and Rolla estimate that a total of 18 structures were destroyed and another 46 damaged by Monday's tornados.  « Less
