For many highschool cowboys and cowgirls, Nationals is right around the corner but only the elite get to go. The Highschool Rodeo Nationals is the ultimate accomplishment for young athletes...many compete in two or even three events in hopes of coming out with a title. No matter the event, it takes a lot the of time and dedication to get to the top in this sport. Local athletes spend time before and afterschool and all summer long training for the chance to get to the highest level. Levi O'Keefe: I've never been there so just to get experience this year. During the schoolyear I go every day after school and practice in the summer, I practice everyday, morning and night, Zach Bahm: The competition down at Nationals, some of the top boys and girls in the nation...so it's pretty difficult to compete at, my goal is to do well at Nationals in both events, steer wrestling and cow cutting and place top ten in cutting. Rodeo Nationals start on July 20th in Farmington, New Mexico.  « Less
