School may be out for kids...but that isn't true for these teachers. More than 100 teachers...from a four state area are taking part in a lignite energy seminar. Classroom activities, power plant and lignite tours are all a part of the three day seminar. The course helps teachers understand the lignite industry and the important role it plays in providing electricity to homes, farms and businesses. Teachers leave the conference with education materials they can use in their classrooms...to help give students a better understanding of what it is all about. (Renee Walz / Lignite Energy Council Education Director) THERE IS HUGE TURNOVER GOING ON AT THE PLANTS AND MINES NOW, THE NEXT FIVE, SIX SEVEN EIGHT YEARS BECAUSE THESE PLANTS HAVE EXCELLENT JOBS. AND THE PEOPLE THAT STARTED THERE 20, 30 , YEARS AGO HAVE STAYED THERE, BUT ARE GOING TO BE RETIRING AND THAT IS WHAT WE NEED. IS TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO COME AND TAKE THIS SEMIINAR, FIND OUT WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT AND GET THOSE KIDS INTO THESE JOBS.
