The University of Mary officially has its *second* ever athletic director. Today the school officially named Roger Thomas to the position. Thomas is currently the commissioner of the North Central Conference, but before that, he was the athletic director and Football coach at the University of North Dakota, so he's no stranger to 'the Peace Garden State. (Roger Thomas:) All I can say is that I am thrilled to be here. Being around the State of North Dakota for a long time and having associations with Mary and other schools that Mary competed with and competed against and watching from afar of the growth and the development of the Mary program, it has been amazing and there is a reputation out there that is really, very very strong. Thomas will remain commissioner of the NCC until the conference ceases to exist on June 30th. Among the highlights in his career were his 13 seasons as UND's football coach, where he won 90 games and lead the Sioux to five NCAA postseason apperances, while winning NCC coach of the year honors three times. He was UND's A.D. from 1999 to 2005, and under his guiDance, the football and Hockey teams won national titles. His first day at U-Mary will be July 1st.  « Less
