Eight teams are heading to the Class B State Baseball Tournament this week in Jamestown, but there's something a little more unique about Steele-Dawson. Tia Streeter has more. (HANNAH) They got a girl on their team ( TIA) It's something Hannah Rohrich's heard one too many times...because SHE'S that girl...the ONLY girl on the Steele Dawson BASEBALL team...yep I said BASEBALL team. (HANNAH) I don't know I just kind of smiile thats kind of my favorite part, just going out there and showing people that I can do that I'm out there...but I proved myself, that I can do it and I can do just as well as any of the other guys. (TIA) This is her second year on the high school team, but she grew up playing Babe Ruth, and watching her brother, and when she takes her place next to the boys...you might never notice she's not just one of the boys. (DAVE SILBERNAGEL) without a doubt they accept her, she goes through all the drills and she does everything that they do and for acceptance you have to do that. (TIA) The Love of the game is what makes Hannah practice every day even though she might not always see as much playing time as everyone else. (HANNAH) It does it makes it a little tough but I'm on the team and people may think well she doesn't get to play so shes not as much of a team member but I work just as hard as anyone else in practices and I show up for every prace and I work my hardest and even though I don't get the playing time, I still love the game it doesn't change anything. (TIA) Motivation and Inspiration are two things that comes easily to Hannah (HANNAH) my main support is God I pray to God to help me do just as well, and I lost my dad last year, it was tough but God helped me get through it and he was really proud of me for doing this and getting out here its not easy being the only girl but I like to prove that I can do anything I want to I go for it all... (TIA) And go for it all she will, when she joins her team this week at the State B baseball tournament...for KX Sports, I'm Tia Streeter Steele-Dawson will match-up with Minot Ryan tomorrow afternoon. Other match-ups include Dakota Prairie and Grafton, M-S-C against Velva-Drake and L-L-M against Central Valley-Hillsboro. Class A Baseball will be in Mandan and their bracket looks like this. Defending Champions, Dickinson, will duel Devils Lake in the early game, followed by Williston and Fargo Shanley and Minot and Fargo South. Finally, Century faces Fargo North in the late game.  « Less
