On the local diamonds, The Minot Ryan Lions baseball team will begin defense of its region 7 baseball title when they hit the field tomorrow against Trinity Christian in the opening round. The Lions went through the regular season with only 2 losses but the team knows that anything is possible in the postseason. The defending state champions point to solid pitching as a key to their success. Bryan Kramer, Ryan baseball coach:Number one, we're gonna have to get some good pitching. That's where the whole thing starts for us and then at the plate we're gonna have to do, each kid's gonna have to do their job and score runs when it's their turn and put the ball in play, execute offensively. We didn't do a real good job of that our last outing and we're working on that so. If we get good pitching and we get some real good at bats, we should be o.k. D.J. Allard, senior:We've had some tough games during the regular season so it's definitely not going to be an easy walk through this tournament. We're gonna have to play to the best of our ability and come out strong. FULL CG It all starts tomorrow at Corbett...the Lions will battle Trinity Christian at 1 pm.
