With Gas Prices predicted to reach nearly four dollars per gallon this summer, consumers as well as car manufacaturers are feeling the pinch. And both are coming up with solutions. Ryan Davidson has more. We'll do anything these days to get some relief from high gas prices. Car manufacturers are doing the same. Hybrid technology is the fusion of combustion engines and electric motors. Commonly found in small cars, sedans ans a few crossover vehicles, the use of gas AND electric is now branching out into full-sized SUV's. This year GM is manufacturing and releasing a limited number of GMC Yukons and Chevy Tahoe Hybrids and I got to take the only one in the area for a drive. {door slam} {key turns} Ryan - That is weird that did not sound normal. (Jayse Schwan/Schwan GM Auto)Now when you go...it'll shut off on you and go to auto stop there and that's when it is strictly battery powered. And when the SUV runs on its batteries...which never have to be charged...it uses no gas and it is absolutely silent. {sound of electric motor} And if you want to hear the power of the 6.0 liter V8 just push the pedal to the floor. {sound of gas engine} Ryan - a little delay but nothing that you wouldn't expect from a car shifting into a passing gear. Jayse - it's actually a little more powerful than our normal ones so with the 5.3 in them its actually...performance wise it doesn't lose anything and you can still tow up to 6000 pounds with it...you know you're going to tow your boat or whatever so you don't lose any of that. The EPA hasn't estimated the fuel economy for the SUV yet, but during our test drive we were able to get a reading of 30 miles per gallon at 60 miles per hour.
