Look for the smoking gun and you'll find your man! Well, that seems to be the case in this week's edition of Someone You Should Know. Debbie Kuehn has Cody Tangsrud's story... You wouldn't know it by merely looking at him.... (It's not something Cody Tangsrud likes to wear on his sleeve... or his collar or lapel or anywhere else really... Even though Cody's collected enough badges to cover this entire shooting jacket, he prefers to keep a low profile... Renae Tansrud/ Cody's Mom-They h ave badgeese that they get for 100 straights and they have their All American Team badges, and it looks really imipressive when they're all decked out. But he refuses to wear any of them.'Cause he says i t looks like he's bragging. Cody, a freshman at Powers Lake High School, is one of the top trap shooters in the nation! Cody Tangsrud/ Champion Trap Shooter- (So had you done any shooting prior to this?) No, lotta hunting ducks, pheasants, stuff like that. (Video games?) Yep- (So do you think any of those things may have helped you prior to this?) Yeah, I'm sure the duck hunting stuff really helped. It actually started when Cody's older sister asked her parents for a bb gun... Renae- So we finally got her one... and he was probably only 3 or 4 And he was the one interested in it.... not her... She thought she wanted it.. and it went from that BB gun and a lot of nerves on my part because he's out there with that all the time, and then it went to a .22. He was nine years old., he had to have a shhtgun. And when Cody captured second place in his first competition, the Prairie Rose State Games, he never looked back. Today, he's got a room full of tropheys, a spot on the All-American Team and he's featured in Trap and Field Magazine. Cody-That's be pretty fun... they pick people off theAll American Team to train for thte Olympics. And it all happens with little fanfare. the kid from North Dakota enters each competition minus the badges and carrying a gun that cost a fraction of the ones his opponents are using. No one is the wiser... at least not at first.... Renae- Guns can be dangerous and you have to be careful, I've never seen a problem at a trap shoot... But what everybody says aat lest they're not out doing drugs or drinking or partying and that's the truth. Pull! Pull! Pull! You wouldn't know it by looking at him... but Cody Tangsrud is a real hot shot! We think he's someone you should know. Debbie Kuehn KX News. « Less
