Hello, I'm Rebecca Field on this Tuesday, the first day of April, 2008 with your UPI entertainment update. Jessica Simpson is home from the hospital following a health scare. The singer's rep tells People magazine she was hospitalized for a kidney infection. Simpson reportedly entered a Los Angeles hospital last week after suffering a fever. She's apparently been released and her rep says she's doing fine. Meanwhile another celebrity is taking it easy after a minor injury. E! News says Adam Sandler is recovering from a broken ankle. The actor's rep says he hurt himself while playing basketball over the weekend. But don't worry Sandler fans....the injury won't affect his upcoming movie. The actor is working on a new comedy called Bedtime stories...due out June 6. Patrick Dempsey is partnering up with the cosmetic company Avon. The actor, known as McDreamy on ABC's Grey's Anatomy has signed a deal to be the face of a new men's fragrance for the company. It's expected to hit U.S. stores in November and launch globally in 2009. The agreement could reportedly be worth 5 million dollars for just 3 years. Longtime pals Renee Zellwegger and George Clooney are teaming up in the new film Leatherheads. Both star in the comedy, and Clooney also directed it. The two hit the red carpet at the film's premiere in Los Angeles yesterday. Clooney could also be seen arm and arm with his girlfriend Sarah Larson. The movie's other star Josh Krasinski was at the event as well. Leatherheads hits theaters Friday. Celebrities and Olympic athletes came together last night for a good cause. Ice skating stars like Sasha Cohen and Sarah Hughes attended the Skating with the Stars benefit along with real estate mogul Donald Trump. Fashion expert Carson Kressley was there as well along with skating Olympic gold medalist Dorothy Hamill. The event raised money for skating and education programs for girls in Harlem.
