Watch for the changes at BP Amoco at both Dakota Square and the Broadway location. BP announced several months back that they were pulling out of North Dakota. So local owner Lori Zavalney decided to go with the Tesoro brand. The signage is being changed, along with that, they are putting in new state of the art pumps that will even feature a TV screen on them. Home of Economy has a new look. Manager Rob Port say the project started in January, they took down some interior walls, expanded their sales floor, and added inventory. And by May, there will be a barber inside the store. The Prairie Clipper will be offering haircuts. Home of Economy has been in Minot since 1962. Independence Inc. has added office space. Located at 300 3rd Street, the agency expanded into some adjacent space. They are located near Herslip Construction. Independence helps people with disabilities maintain their independence. They have also opened an office in Williston. This building at 400 North Main is now home to a new interdenominational church called Spiritual Life Christian Fellowship. River of Life Assemblies used to be here. Pastor Bob Adkins say this first Sunday service for the new church is this Sunday at 10:30 and 7. In Velva, the new store on Main Street called the Quilted Bean opened at 6am today. Located in an older building, the Quilted Bean features quilting supplies, fabrics, and classes..she also offers gourmet coffees, sandwichs, pastries, soups and breads. Owner Mardy Schock has lived in Velva many years, and loves it. This building with the tin ceilings, and hardwoods floors she thought was perfect for her business. An incredible amount of work went into restoring the building. (Mardy Schock, The Quilted Bean) My sons and daughter pitched in and just worked and worked. but it paid off, this is a beautiful building. Mardy says she has received lots of support from the community, plus she was the recipient of Velva, Minot and North Dakota economic development money. In Dunseith, Dale's Truck Stop is fully open now. They had a fire last August that ruined the kitchen. The C-store was forced to close for two weeks, and the restaurant just reopened the end of February. Owner George Gottbretht, whose father Dale started the business in 1952, says the restaurant was totally re-done, the kitchen and decor: all new. Because of NCAA Basketball aired on this station, it affects our newscasts for the next two Thursdays, so there will be no Business Beat until April 3rd. For Business Beat I'm Carla Burbidge. « Less
