It's been months in the making and today, a new Wal-Mart opened its doors in Bottineau. And the reception was quite enthusiastic - with shoppers jamming the aisles and checkout counters for several hours. The nearly-100-thousand square-foot store includes a full grocery store and incorporates several features designed to reduce the impact on the local environment. The store manager says 148 people have been hired for jobs at the new Wal-Mart. And she says her family has just finished settling in to the Bottineau area. (Maria Clary, Wal-Mart Manager) I've been in Bottineau since November, purchased a home here, my husband will be here today from South Carolina, my furniture will be here Saturday, my three daughters are here - one at the elementary school and two at the high school - one graduating this year, and they love it and I have family members in Belcourt so it's close, it's home, and I'm so happy to be here. Clary says the store is using a new system of in-store signs that should help shoppers more-easily find the departments they're looking for. She says the Bottineau store is one of the nation's first to use the new sign system.  « Less
