The man who ran for Congress as a Republican in 2006 has apparently killed himself. Officials say 39-year old Matt Mechtel died of an what looks like a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Mechtel's body was found by family members this morning at his farm near Page. Mechtel ran against Earl Pomeroy for Congress in the last election, and was previously a chairman of the North Dakota Soybean Council and Northern Crops Council.  « Less
