It was national letter of intent signing day for high school Football players across the country. The Minot State football team was a part of the big day signing 14 players for next season. Of the 14, 6 were offensive lineman and 6 were defensive backs which were areas that the team felt needed more depth. Paul Rudolph, MSU football coach:We lacked depth. We finished that last game of the season last year with 6 offensive lineman and one of those guys was a convert, you know converted over from another position. So we needed depth there drastically and we didn' have a lot of depth in the secondary and we lost three guys to graduation so we needed a couple transfer guys that could come in, buy us some time. They're quality players and at the same token give those three guys that we signed early on a chance to mature and grow and hopefully be ready to step in and play in a year or two. The Beavers see a lot of potential in the group of athletes coming in and in particular a standout Minot High product. Rudolph:Arguably I think Mitch Haugeberg is far and away the best offensive lineman in the state. I don't think there's any doubt about that. There's no doubt about it in my mind. When we compared him to the guys in Minnesota that we watched, we watched the guys in Montana that we watched and the guys in the Canadian provinces that we watched, you know I don't think there's any doubt in the fact that he was one of the quality players out there.
