We're remembering our favorite stories of 2007 as the year comes to a close. Today, it's photojournalist Perry Moll's turn to choose two favorites. His first is a story with reporter Abby Wuellner about some local kids who decided to reach out to victims of a Minneapolis disaster... (Dalton Mitzel, Minot) This is our best corner, I think. Every summer, grade schoolers in town put a great deal of thought in selecting that perfect cornerthe one where the traffic is good...and the people are thirsty. (Katelyn Tracy, Minot) Would you like some juice? (Customer) I would love some! Katie and Dalton, though, they thought about more than location, location, location when organizing their juice stand. (Dalton) We're trying to help the victims of the bridge in Minneapolis. (Katelyn) All the money goes to the Red Cross to send to them. The two say they've seen pictures of the disaster on TV (Katelyn) It just made me feel how some people would be injured, and how their families would feel. And while both knew they couldn't help by wading through the mighty Mississippi...they found something they could wade througha few cartons of Apple Berry Cherry, and a couple of boxes of Teddy Grahams. At this stand, guests didn't hesitate to say keep the change. (Dalton) Thanks for buyingand a lot of donating! This isn't he first time Katie has tried to do a good deed by offering a good deal. She and another friend sent-up stand after Hurricane Katrina...but she says that one didn't work out as well. (Katelyn) We raised about $10, but my friend kept it all. This time, though, she has more confidence in her new business partner's intentions. (Dalton) $50! That would help! (Katelyn) Yeaha lotwith some peoples' surgery. And with their locationclose as Minot is to Minneapolis. (Customer) My cousins live in Minneapolis. And given the busy corner so carefully selected. (Katelyn) All the money goes to the accident. hey might just collect that fifty dollars. After all, they made ten in their first hour alone. But even if the customers begin to dwindle... (Katelyn) My allowance for the weekI'm going to put it in. Well, at least they have a back-up plan. In Minot, Abby Wuellner, KX News. « Less
