It's one way to help kids in need this Christmas season... It's called Shop with a Cop. Bismarck police officers take children to Walmart on a 50-dollar-shopping spree. The kids are also taken to lunch at McDonalds. One brother and sister from Bismarck were very excited to pick out their Christmas gifts today... (Natari Anna & D'Andre Bauer, Bismarck shoppers) I am getting chocolate for my grandma...I'm getting probably getting boots to stay warm. Bismarck Police Officer John Brocker says the kids picked to go shopping are nominated by their teachers at school. He says the program helps 130 children. And the program is funded through donations from folks within the community. (John Brocker, Bismarck Police Officer) This is a way for us to show ourselves more on the personal side and again give something back to the community...because we're part of the community just like anyone else. Shop with a Cop is provided in several cities throughout the state. The Bismarck Shop with a Cop program is the largest in North Dakota.  « Less
