A realtor, a retired teacher, a former board member and an avid volunteer...those were the folks vying for a spot on Minot's school board today. The board interviewed candidates to fill the spot Roger Slotsve is vacating. Slotsve was recently married and intends to move out of town. Today board members interviewed four people who applied for the position... (Dr. David Looysen, MPS Superintendent) The board takes it very seriously. And it's going to be someone that will be working with them and someone that's in the best interest of the students and the district so. The board appointed Laura Mihalick to the position. Mihalick is an avid volunteer with the district and many other groups as well including the Minot YMCA, Sons of Norway, Artspace, Tomatofest, First Lutheran Church and she was named Minot education Association's Friend of Education in 2004. Others applying for the position were Larry Louser, Bill Blore and Richard Sabol. Mihalick will fill the position until June when the public will get a chance to vote for the next board member in the general election.  « Less
