It's the most significant dinosaur find ever in North Dakota... It was found eight years ago near Marmarth, in the southwestern part of the state. The Dinosaur fossil is 67-million years old. It's a duck-billed hadrosaur. These are pictures are of the fossil from the National Geographic website. What's is so amazing about this fossil is that it's exceptionally detailed. It shows skin, tendons, ligaments and possibly some internal organs. Experts have named it Dakota. Now, Dakota is proving to answer some questions that scientist couldn't ever answer before. Scientists say hadrosaurs were bigger and stronger than ever thought. They say, hadrosaurs were up to 40 feet long and weighed more than three tons. And they were probably fast and flexible enough to outrun predators. When the hadrosaur was found in the North Dakota, National Geographic helped fund the excavation. Dakota and the excavation process will be featured on National Geographic channel special called Dino Autopsy on December 9th at 8 p.m. central time. « Less
