In less than two weeks, the Dakota Wizards will return to the court in hopes of defending their D-League Title and today, the team conducted their first practices. Head Coach Duane Ticknor and Assistant Coach Dean Martin had the players going through drills and even scimmaging on the first day. Their are 16 players in camp, but that number will be trimmed to 12 on Wednesday. (Duane Ticknor:) Our returning guys understand what is to play here - the tradition and everything and they have really kind of grasped the newcomers and let them know what it is all about and that the expectations here are to win. That has made camp a lot easier from a coaching standpoint and the effort level has been tremendous. Your first chance to see the Wizards in action is actually this week. That's because they'll square off with Sioux Falls on Friday in an exhibition game in Dickinson. The season opens up a week from Friday when the Wizards host the expansion Iowa Energy.  « Less
