Google is a popular search engine on the World Wide Web... And saving energy has been a popular topic of discussion these days... So Google decided to do it's part to save energy...by going black. The founders of Google have created Blackle. It's basically the same search engine but in black instead of white. This is because a white screen uses more energy than a black one... M-D-U spokesman Mark Hanson says this different colored search engine may save energy but it depends on the monitor you use... (Mark Hanson, MDU Spokesman) The modern LCD monitors are going to have minimal savings with those. I think the bigger savings is with the older, large monitors. But we always encourage energy conservation with our customers so if that is something they want to try to save some energy, that's great. Hanson says there are several things people can do to save energy. He says for more information on saving energy with your computer and other appliancesgo to www.energystar.gov. « Less
