A virus outbreak has caused officials at the Souris Valley Humane Society to put all of the dogs there under a quarantine. The pets will be under the quarantine for possibly sixty days. There's no definite answer as to how the virus broke out, but officials there are taking every precaution to ensure the health of the animals currently in their care... (Dr. Ron Thunshelle / Humane Society) The Humane Society has recently had a few cases of Distemper diagnosed. This is a pretty contagious virus in enclosed areas and can be a difficult disease to control. As of right now they have no information whether the virus will have any effect on the cats. If you have recently adopted a pet, officials with the Humane Society say you should look for symptoms of vomiting and seizures.  « Less
