She says she not scared of cancer never has been... However, It's the cost of cancer that did scare Kathryn Wentz. So when she found a lump in her breast over two years ago, she kept it a secret from the world... Here's her story... It all started in June, 2005 Kat Wentz found a lump in her breast, and knew... (Kathryn Wentz/ Had Breast Cancer) My life just went on, like the birthdays, o.k., after this birthday I'll go get checked, after this after that... we'll a year and a half later... (Reporter) She didn't tell anyone, not her best friend, not her twin sister, not even her husband. Kat works as a waitress, uninsured, broke, full of pride.... (Kathryn Wentz/ Had Breast Cancer) It was all about the money, my whole cancer deal has been about the money. (Reporter) So you would rather die? (Kathryn) Ya, then leave it for my husband. Now he's gonna pay for it even if I'm gone. So that my big thing is money. I'm not scared of cancer. (Reporter) A year and a half had passed. What was once Kat's little secret, was growing into a big secret. (Kathryn Wentz/ Had Breast Cancer) I was just so big, I couldn't hide it anymore. (Reporter) That's when Kat saw a commercial on television for women's way. She called, she qualified, she went to the doctor. Her journey began. (Kathryn Wentz/ Had Breast Cancer) I still remember the face of the gal that did my mammogram. I could tell just by the way she looked at me. I said is everything all right? She said oh yah the doctor will come and talk to you. (Reporter) Kat was a stage three. The cancer had spread to eight lymph nodes. She had a mastectomy within a month and lives to tell her story. (Kathryn Wentz/ Had Breast Cancer) How many other women, like me are sitting around going I can't tell anybody either for the same reason. People lose their homes, they don't care you have to pay your bills. (Reporter) Kat figure's her medical expenses are around 100-thousand dollars all paid for by Women's Way. Kat has no bills, no worry, no cancer. (Kathryn Wentz/ Had Breast Cancer) Thank God for Women's Way, it didn't know that that I would qualify, I didn't know that I would. It's been over ten months since her mastectomy. She says without Women's Way she wouldn't be here today... « Less
